Support champions provide map and dragon control. Later they give baron control by wards.
Nami is a pretty nice support bot lane. She can do decent with just about any adc. She got very high CC, both in lane and in teamfights. Offers pretty good damage for a support.
Nami is a flexible laner allowing her to pair with almost anyone, you can max W for sustain/trading, Q for engages, or E for AA traders. This is good for solo queue, where you can get paired with every type of person. She can follow up or disengage teamfights.
Nami is very hard to play and also has a decent learning curve. She is very squishy and have high cooldowns, so can get punished easily. Nami is not the one who should protect carry since, she got more offensive aoe spells. If you miss one Q you can get easily harassed or killed.
